Lishu Rodriguez

Founder & Lead Teacher

Lishu has been passionate about art since her childhood days in Nepal. She followed her dream, earning her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, and later spent 20 years as a furniture designer and social entrepreneur.

Now a certified arts educator in Washington State and a National Board Certified teacher, Lishu brings her love for the arts to teaching at both a local elementary school and the art museum. She believes in the arts as a path to personal and communal well-being. Known for her calm, encouraging style, she creates inclusive, engaging lessons that inspire every child to explore, experiment, and grow as an artist, instilling a lifelong love of the arts.

Certificated art educator with a masters degree.

Emily Lohmann

Teacher

Emily is a colorful and creative force, often spotted around the school as a familiar substitute teacher. With a BA in Art & Art History and postgraduate studies in women’s craft traditions, she brings a joyful, hands-on approach to every lesson.

When she’s not knitting something bright and playful, she’s dreaming up seasonal craft projects that get kids laughing, experimenting, and falling in love with art.

Melinda Schlegel

Teacher Assistant

Melinda is a dedicated Para-educator at Commodore Options School. With a BA in Human Development & Child in Society from Boston College, and extensive professional experience in educational support, she encompasses the skills, passion, and heart necessary to help students thrive and be their absolute best.

When she isn't actively supporting students in the classroom, you’ll likely find her outside playing in the snow, enjoying walks with her daughter, or cuddling with her cats. An artist at heart, she also dedicates her free time to creating her own art whenever she can.

Kailas Rodriguez

Art Assistant

Kai is a senior at Bainbridge High School (BHS), where he is currently exploring his passion for ceramics. While his primary academic strengths lie in math and science, he has intentionally challenged himself to nurture his creative side by taking AP Art classes.

Kai joins our camp after school, providing essential support to the teachers whenever needed. His quiet poise and positive attitude are wonderful assets that contribute deeply to our camp culture.
